Like many who pass through the Gorbals, we grab opportunities with both hands. We’re not afraid to roll up our sleeves and work hard to create the best possible products.

Each product we produce has a unique batch code which is a subtle nod to elements of the Gorbals we are proud of, both past and present.

The Twomax Building at 187 Old Rutherglen Road stands like a one-fingered salute to the idea that newer and bigger is always better. A true place of work – at one time a cotton mill, then a textiles factory - it became the home of an iconic Glasgow knitwear company, which held its own against more monied brands from the Borders.

In the 80s, Twomax was another victim of cheap imports, fast-fashion and big money, but for 60 years it welcomed generations of grafters from the Gorbals — especially our women; hard-workers who knew the importance of doing the simple stuff right.

Their spirit lives on in a Gorbals landmark that proudly proclaims its industrial story, and in our Gin.

Gorbals Gin

Our dry Gin is how a gin should be made, natural, we like to have very little sugar – less than .1 gram per litre – It also has no artificial colouring, but it does have a natural juniper taste which means there is no overpowering flavours. Just enjoy with whatever you like.
 
In this product we have tried to take you back to the days of the Gorbals when our area was changing from tenement to high rise blocks, where hope was in our hearts and the taste of summer was all around us. In a heartbeat you are transformed back to the days of the Rose Garden and the auld yins playing cards, board and domino games across from the shopping centre in Cumberland Street. Life was good then and we just got on with it, there will be no craft suggestions from us on how you pour or what you mix your drink with, it’s all about you, It’s all about Our Gorbals.
